Royal Far West School already boasts a very strong art program, and we were pleased to be able to slot right into it. The school welcomes students from far and wide who are having treatment at the Royal Far West Children’s Health Scheme.

Linda Edwards graciously facilitated our strange request to set up the caravan in the school’s garbage zone looking out over Manly beach — arguably the world’s luckiest dumpster!

At Royal Far West, we were pleased to note that the project’s vibrations, sounds, and moving colours and shapes work successfully for children with all sorts of different perceptual ability.

Roaming through the school grounds, we discovered a wooden suspension bridge that played just like a glockenspiel…

…the squeak-squawk of clean linoleum…

…we mischievously recorded the secretary on the school’s intercom…

…and even a talented baritone art teacher who sang “Old Man River”!
